Hair loss can be a distressing experience, affecting one's confidence and self-esteem. Hair transplant has emerged as a popular solution to fight hair loss and baldness. However, the success of a hair transplant result does not depend only on the surgeon's expertise but also on how you prepare beforehand.

The following are the right pre-care checklists that you need to take before your procedure:

  • Do not cut or trim your hair for 15 days before the procedure.

  • Do not drink tea/coffee/caffeine more than once a week before surgery.

  • Do not consume alcohol or vitamin supplements or smoke at least 24 hours before the procedure, and maintain this for at least two weeks afterwards.

  • In rare cases, a shaved hair may be required, so avoid shaving for 2-3 days before surgery.

  • Before coming for treatment, take a bath and shampoo with antiseptic soap.

  • Get plenty of sleep and rest before and after surgery.

  • On the day of the procedure, avoid clothes that require over-the-head wear, such as T-shirts. Try to wear button-down shirts, zippered jackets, etc., and this should be continued for 7 days after surgery.

  • If you are taking any medication for hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, or epilepsy, this should be consistent. Take your regular morning dose of medication on the day of surgery.

A good hair transplant surgeon should discuss these instructions with you before the hair transplant procedure. For best results, it's important to strictly follow any pre-operative instructions provided by your doctor.
